Cable 2
I keep breaking shifter cables. Tonight I broke my 3rd one in two weeks. They all break in the same way, the rubber cable housing pulls out of the metal end bit. So the push-pull cable becomes a pull-only cable. I have absolutely no idea why this keeps happening, the cable is installed the exact same way my original cable was installed (and that lasted 3 years). Any ideas?

Probably not the answer, but from my experience with fucked door pulls, it’s because the part is garbage. The solution I was told was to not use the door pull. I don’t think that’ll work with a shifter.

it must be getting excessive amounts of resistance somewhere. either the linkage on the trans or in the shifter itself.

It sounds like another problem caused the first failure and replacement didn't fix the actual problem which caused the subsequent failures. Like Tohru said, I would be looking for something causing excessive resistance somewhere.

What vehicle? Auto trans cable? What brand of cable?
